Assistive Devices

At UCC Physio, we offer a variety of supportive devices, including the following:

Custom orthotics are specialized shoe inserts designed to provide support, stability, and alignment for the feet, ankles, and lower limbs. Unlike over-the-counter inserts, custom orthotics are individually crafted to meet the unique needs of each wearer, taking into account factors such as foot structure, gait mechanics, and specific biomechanical issues. The custom orthotics are meticulously fabricated to provide optimal support and correction for the individual’s foot and lower limb alignment. They are designed to redistribute pressure, correct biomechanical abnormalities, and alleviate pain or discomfort associated with conditions such as flat feet, high arches, plantar fasciitis, or overpronation.

Braces are orthopedic devices designed to provide support, stability, and protection for injured or weakened joints, muscles, or ligaments. Available in a variety of styles and materials, braces can be worn on different parts of the body, including the knee, ankle, wrist, elbow, and spine. Braces are commonly used to manage a wide range of orthopedic conditions, including ligament injuries, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, and post-surgical rehabilitation. They help to reduce pain, improve joint alignment, and prevent further injury by limiting excessive movement or providing additional support to weakened or damaged structures.

Compression stockings are specialized garments designed to improve circulation and reduce swelling in the legs and feet. They work by applying gentle pressure to the legs, with the greatest pressure at the ankles and gradually decreasing pressure as they move up the leg. This compression helps to support the veins, improve blood flow, and prevent fluid buildup, making them beneficial for various circulatory issues. Compression stockings are commonly used to manage conditions such as varicose veins, spider veins, chronic venous insufficiency, and deep vein thrombosis. They are also helpful for individuals who spend long periods standing or sitting, such as travelers or those with jobs that require extended periods of immobility.
